It's an awesome book, definitely my favorite romance novel .. in that it manages to be romantic without being so terribly terribly sappy. I had the audio book read by the author himself and it was quite brilliant. I recommend reading the entire series though, otherwise the book doesn't make much sense. After all the woman in the book is first mentioned in the introduction to the first book, it's just brilliant <grin>.
cheers

I agree. If you liked it, go back and read the whole series from the start. Douglas Adams just plain rocks. First heard Hitch-hiker's Guide on public radio when they got the series from the BBC in the early eighties. I also had some condensed versions of the audio books read by Stephen Moore who was the voice of Marvin in the radio series. I most likely read the unabridged books as well, but they may have been NLS talking books.

The hitch hiker's guide to the galaxy is a brilliant series in my opinion. Read all the books, they're very funny. They are really enjoyable.

Hitch-hikers guide to the galaxy rules! I can read them over and over again and still love them. I have the entire series read by Douglas Adams himself, and it is as treasured as my recordings of J.R.R. Tolkien reading from the "lord of the rings" trilogy. If you like British humour and science fiction, follow the other posters' suggestions and read the whole series. In myopinion, though, the first three books were the best.
